This a type of degree that is a scholarly focus on implementing research for the doctor of philosophy in nursing and taking that information into practice. The DNP has a more collaborative approach within the hospital administration, patients, patient’s families, and other hospital services. The DNP prepared student must be able in act the emancipatory knowing model, being aware and critically reflecting on social, cultural, and political issues within a system. Thy must be able to ask; Why do we need this change? Who will this benefit the most for this outcome? What barriers will there be with the plan? (Chinn & Kramer, 2015). This is the beginning phase of implementing a praxis. The next steps includes, critiquing and imagining the planning process, creating the action plan during the formal process. During the authentication phase, it is important to make sure that there are no biases, and that everyone is served equally. I reconnected with my colleagues from UVA and Stanford University, as well as, connected with other physicians that have done research with lidocaine infusions to ask them what their guidelines were for the medication. I am currently on a committee that will present guidelines for lidocaine infusion to the Pain Management Team Committee at UMMC next month. Our lidocaine committee plans on implementing these guidelines to orthopedic patients first to evaluate any problems or concerns, and then open the infusion to the whole
