In this Old Spice advertisement, it begins with a shirtless, well build and masculine man holding body wash at a beach. Mustafa, the character promoting the product, has a very deep voice and starts of the commercial by saying “Hello Ladies, does your man look like me?” This instantly grabs many women’s attention by the sound of his voice and how it is being displayed. This is especially detrimental to young boys because they grow up to believe that those are the things a woman values in a man, and that is the type of man they should be. Continuing after “Hey ladies” Mustafa says “no”. This targets woman because he is emphasizing that your man does not look like me an I am more masculine than him. As a result, young men feel obligated to workout and instead of the reason to be healthy, they would use supplements to attain the muscular quintessential.
