From the beginning of time people have always looked up to leaders as a source of their inspiration and motivation. It has become a common occurrence that people try to emulate what they see their leaders doing. Leaders should understand that, since they are role models of the followers they should behave in an appropriate manner or act in the expected ways since failure to that would mislead those who look up to them. Oprah Winfrey is the perfect example of a visionary leader and ethical leader who has received global recognition for her leadership and ethical qualities. Sometimes it is common to find that even if a leader has upright ideas, there are still people who criticize them as they don't believe in the leader’s line of thinking, but then a great leader should never be deterred by the criticism. Oprah is guided by her beliefs and principles which have not seemed to fail her time and again. In Oprah’s early life, her achievement and handling the sex abuse scandal has served a significant role in justifying her role as the visionary and ethical leader described. The visionary part is exhibited when she never accepted to be blocked by the numerous challenges that life threw at her. The ethical part is applied when the ethical dilemma of her school getting involved in sex abuse scandal confronts her but then comes up with the best solution. Oprah envisions an educated society, so she has started different forums to give people access to educational facilities. I will become a better leader when I apply the lessons that I learned from Oprah
