They both face the struggle of pain, possibly a little different, possibly not. For example Hazel (girl character) has thyroid cancer and it limits her to certain things. Such as climbing a set of stairs. Hazel has to carry around a portable oxygen tank and she wears a set of tubes in her nostrils. Augustus or Gus for short was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. Gus was cured, but with every positive there is a negative and for his cure of cancer he lost a leg. Hazel and Gus both face or have faced the struggles of cancer and how it can really bring down your confidence.
