Social Media addiction is a trend which is affecting more adolescents’ lives which increases the risk of anxiety and depression as well as damaging sleep patterns, furthermore increasing the chance of peer pressure (Udorie, 2015). A survey showed that girls did not fully understand social media addiction as 70% said they did not have social media addiction yet 50% of them used social media more than once a day (Appendix 1 & 2). A campaign was created in order to increase student’s personal skills, therefore, putting this trend on the agenda of students ' mind which results in building healthy public policies. By doing this it allowed students to realise social media addiction was a real thing and how many people are addicted to social media. By developing personal skills it will overcome intellectual issues as it shows students how to limit their time on social media. The main points being to log off during the night or turn social media notifications off during the night. This would then allow the students to sleep therefore being able to pay attention during school time. By addressing it to more class would have allowed more students to be made aware of social media addiction and have their input on the matter. To improve the lesson for next time would be to shorten it a little bit as it appeared that some of the students were not paying full attention by the end of it. Another way to improve the lesson would be having the ways to stop social media addiction closer to the beginning as well as repeated a few more times throughout the lesson to make sure students understood how they could overcome it. A final improvement could possibly to split the single lesson into two. By doing this, students could see the full extent of social media addiction on one day and then go away and talk about it to friends and family. And coming back another day would allow them to have developed their opinion on the matter and realise they are more than like the part of the group which was addicted to social media. Then having the second part of the lesson on another day would have allowed them to digest the new information separately. By doing this would help overcome the need to be available 24/7 as students would realise what is at risk by being available 24/7.
