Babies are often weak and born with low birth weights or with their organs outside of their body. These people are victims of kidney defeats or groin hernia and often have episodes of arrested breathing. Every organ is affected and the live birth rate is 1:10,000. Children with this syndrome often live only a few months after birth. Edwards’ syndrome is caused by nondisjunction of chromosome 18(extra copy of chromosome 18).
NONDISJUNCTION OF SEX CHROMOSOMES(X/Y chromosome)
Klinefelter’s syndrome - Males affected by Klinefelter’s syndrome have abnormally small sized testes and produce less testosterone(little to no sperm). These males experience less body hair, reduced muscle mass, less facial hair, enlargement of breasts and other feminine body characteristics. Klinefelter’s syndrome occurs due to nondisjunction of the sex cell resulting in 47 chromosomes total(extra copy of X chromosome in males).
XYY syndrome - Males affected by this syndrome have above average height and also commonly have low intelligence or below average intelligence. Many experience severe acne, weak muscles, hand tremors, behavior problems, and learning disabilities. 47, XYY males is a result of nondisjunction of the sex cell resulting in 47 chromosomes total(extra copy of Y chromosome in
