The spread of movie genres is very big, and for someone that enjoys watching movies that include nature (such as myself) climate fiction is considered a “go-to” genre. The allure of a climate-fiction movie is that it allows the viewers to experience nature in many ways that might not be possible. Computer generated images continually get better as climate fiction films push the envelope on portraying beautiful scenes in nature across the globe. Regarding the history of climate change and its impact I have found that the climate change films get produced better every year which certainly plays a role in how the viewer experiences and interprets the …show more content…
In 1824, French physicist Joseph Fourier described the Earth’s natural “greenhouse effect”. The population at the time of Fourier’s findings was roughly one billion people . Events in the 20th century were mostly about the discovering of the issue of global warming, beginning with individuals such as Knut Angstrom and ending at the conclusion of the century with global organizations such as the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change). In 1900, Knut Angstrom discovered that CO2 in the atmosphere led to the absorption of part of the infrared spectrum. The atmosphere is a major player in the discussion of global warming since it is composed of naturally found chemical particles that humans can contribute to with the burning of certain fuels. In 1927, carbon emissions from fossil fuel burning and industry reached one billion tons per year while human population reached 2 billion in 1930. The 1930s was the first instance of the recognition of the issue of climate change . In 1938, Guy Callender showed that global temperatures had risen over the previous century using records from 147 weather stations. He paralleled his findings with the fact that CO2 concentrations had increased over the same period. This finding of a global warming was called the “Callender effect” and was widely dismissed by
