(2015, p.106). These are all methods that I can see myself using in my future classroom. Upon reading the material this week, I believe that self-reinforcement is the most valuable skill a teacher can teach a student. For, they are not always going to have someone around who will tell them, "good job!" Or have someone to help them stay on task, and complete an assignment. Self regulation is a tool that, "… prepares students for a world in which they will increasingly need to take responsibility for motivating themselves, and maintaining high productivity in less structured, more flexible workplaces." In order to tap into a students intrinsic motivation the teacher must keep the content interesting, relevant, useful, and engaging. (Slavin, 2015). A previous chapter went over the importance of developing information that is meaningful to students, for this will not only keep students engaged, but the information will also be more likely to stay in their long term memory. In order to do this I will develop lesson plans that will include interesting, and relevant content. I will also be sure to use interesting materials and a variety of presentations. For example, I may incorporate videos into the lesson, or bring in a guest speaker to speak to the class. I think that it is also important to take feedback from students. For example, after reading a novel in class I will ask the class what they thought of the book. If the feedback is mostly positive I will keep the novel in the curriculum for next year. However, if students had a difficult time reading, understanding, or relating to the book I may think about replacing the book with another for the next year. I will also be sure to create a classroom that is warm, accepting, and positive. A place where every student feels accepted, and comfortable asking
