A pediatric dentist specializes in the oral health of patients under eighteen. They have special training to maintain the oral health of children during their stages of childhood. During the treatment and teeth cleaning, the dentist will look for any tooth decay or cavities. If the dentist finds either of these, they will generally correct them in the same visit. The dentist will also discuss any habits the child has such as sucking their thumb or pacifier. The dentist will assess the patient's teeth alignment and discuss further treatment such as braces.
