The novel starts with a 12-year-old boy named Percy Jackson, a boarding student who suffered from dyslexia and ADHD at Yancy academy, which is a private school for troubled kids. He narrates about his life and how he transferred from school to school due to the bad things that happened in each school he attended, but not until this field trip at a museum, he discovered things he never knew existed.
Percy Jackson and the Lighting thief is a roller coaster ride of adventures of the main character, Percy, in retrieving Zeus’ lightning bolt for he was accused to have stolen it due to Zeus’ and his father, Poseidon’s conflict. The story is filled with intense action and sci-fi entertainment. The storyline is told through the narration of Percy Jackson, the main character.
It all started at the museum where they had their field trip, and when a classmate named Nancy bullied Percy’s best friend, Grover who is also his satyr guardian. The story exposes intense action and numerous adventures same as the novels that are trending nowadays. Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief is a very captivating literature piece that makes a reader put himself/herself in the story to actually give manifestation of the narrated events. Some may critic it as an ordinary sci-fi action novel but this one is unique in its own way and the characters are very interesting and worth investing your time. There is already a film adaptation of the novel and the book itself waiting to be read and given life to its adventurous events. The movie and the book are both my personal favorites and I commend both the director and the author to have these two products of their hardship gain fame and success and so I recommend it to first time readers and movie
