Personal Narrative: Redondo Beach

Throughout my life going to the beach has been one of my favorite things to do. The feeling of walking on the warm grainy sand and having it brush between my toes always excites me with the feeling of gratification. Every time I would go to the beach I would hear the wailing seagulls hovering over the sand, and the glistening ocean. It always fascinated me to see people take a beautiful day to spend it at the beach. No matter what your age is the beach was always a place to relax and have fun with family and friends. When I was younger my parents would through a Beach party for me every summer, inviting family and friends to celebrate and have an amazing enjoyable time. I splashed my feet feeling the frigid water against my skin. For ten minutes some friends and I played catch with a football while trying not to drop it so it would not get eaten by the sea. As we got deeper and deeper in the ocean the waves roared bigger and bigger, to where my balance was defeated and I was knocked down by a massive wave. When I bounced out the water I could feel my eyes burning like if someone put fire in my eyes. I also tasted the salty sea water with my nostrils stinging from the faint breeze of a brackish sent. This was my first time feeling all these crazy effects after getting knocked out by a wave. However instead of feeling miserable and wanting to go home, I knew that this was just another experience of being at the beach. As I got out the Ocean my cousin Mikah started to cheer for me like if I just scored the winning shot in a Basketball game. 30 minutes later I decided to play soccer with my dad, uncles, and cousins. Even though I was way better at soccer than volley ball I still struggled like a wild beast caught in a net. Every time someone near me kicked the ball I would get sand in my eyes, and it would cause an itchy, irritating sensation that would make my eyelids feel dry. Perseverance turned into a key when I finally scored my first goal. As my dad lifted me up above his shoulders, I could hear the booming applause from my family and friends. After playing a lively game of soccer it was time to sing Happy Birthday to me. As I walked to the table where the cake was on I could see eight candles and everyone counting down to sing Happy Birthday. After making a wish that I hoped would come true instead of me blowing out the candles, the ocean breeze wiped them out on accident.
