My dad always told me he never wanted to name his kid's usual names, and when I said I hated my name, he told me for a half an hour how great it was to have a unique name. However, my dad didn’t always want my name to be Tia, and my mom definitely did not. Polka music, and swing, and brass bands were always playing in my mom’s childhood home. The Big Bopper was my Nana’s favorite musical group; one of their songs was titled, Chantilly Lace. It was played for countless hours and my mom knows every word to the song.
