To completely grasp the vast expanse of surgical field, during college years, i started watching surgical procedures broadcasted live from different hospitals on internet and was amazed at its innovative nature. I got a chance to closely observe life “as a general surgery resident” after my friend started General surgery residency in New-York and loved every aspect of it, so much so that even before starting surgical clerkship I was certain that I wanted to be a surgeon. My experiences during surgical rotation confirmed that I like surgery.
It has always been my priority to provide the best possible care to my patients. Working as an intern in developing country i observed that without a good residency program it is not possible to acquire necessary skills to become leader in surgical field and decided to move to United States to pursue my dream career. I have learned know how of pre-op patient optimization and post-op care and understand the logistics of operating room. Having worked in a busy hospital with limited resources i have developed ability to take clinical decisions quickly and to find innovative ways to use the limited resources in efficient way. To keep up with innovations in surgical field i regularly compliment my education with research. I can confidently state that i am fully prepared to fulfill residency duties from day one and one particular day serve as a strong testament to my abilities. On that day our department was overwhelmed by mass casualty incident and our supervisor gave permission to interns to take care of patients independently. With junior intern assistance and occasional assistance from the attending in next operating room I successfully operated on gunshot wound and shrapnel wound patient. My happiness knew no bounds when the department chair commended my work on that day during monthly meeting.
Throughout my medical training I have been guided by great teachers and have deep passion for teaching others. During medical school I not only mentored junior medical students but also my class-fellows, and even was nicknamed “Professor”. Whenever I learn new skill or knowledge, I have this strong urge to share it with my peers and enjoy working as part
