As it is stated in the Declaration of Independence, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness…” (Stith par. 1). Because the opposing side often believes that a human life begins as soon as conception occurs, then a fetus should have the right to life. They believe that this should allow a fetus to be protected by the government and not be killed through an abortion. Because the fetus is not protected, and these things are happening, in the end, it would be considered murdering a live fetus. In a study done in 2004, 1,209 women were asked about the reasons for why they had abortions. 73% of those women said that they had abortions because they were not financially stable enough to care for themselves and a child (Finer par. 21). That high of a percentage shows that selflessness rather than selfishness is a large reason why women have abortions. Why would you want to put a child in that kind of situation? This child is more likely to face poverty for the rest of it’s life, bouncing in and out of foster homes, and homelessness. All of those factors would create an unstable environment for them to grow up them. This would be unfair for a child to get brought into a world where there is not stability for them and they may not be able to get the things that they need in
