1984 is a book that everyone should read as a warning of what could happen, if people allow the government to gain too much control over their humanity as a whole. In 1984, the dystopian society, known as Oceania is completely controlled by the party, which is the government. Oceania’s government uses methods such as: Propaganda, Thought Police, Telescreen’s, and fear, to control it’s people. These techniques focus on breaking down the people’s individuality and emotion. Oceania focuses on breaking down the family structure as well, eliminating other influences that may cause party members to show emotion or individuality.
