During this lab, my main goal was to discover exactly how much phosphorus (or phosphate) is in the composition of plant food, or in the case of the Guided Inquiry portion of the lab, in two different brands of plant food. If I put it in the most concise way possible, to do this, I carried out quite a few processes that caused the components of the plant food to separate from each other. Basically, I got the phosphorus, along with some other substances, to form as a precipitate. Next, through a filtering method, I was able to isolate the aqueous solution (the one that the precipitate formed in) from the solid, yet very fine, precipitate. Now, with the two separated from one another, I was then capable of performing a series of calculations to unearth everything that I needed to know, such as the amount of moles of phosphorus that could be found in the plant food, the amount of P2O5 in grams that could be…
Maple Syrup Urine Disease Hannah Gentry , 13SK , 8/21/2014 Maple syrup urine disease (MSUD) is a rare genetic disorder where an aminoacidopathy secondary to an enzyme defect in the catabolic pathway of the branched-chain alpha-keto acid dehydrogenase complex, which are required in order to metabolize certain amino acids in the human body. In other words, it is a metabolism disorder, where the infant is unable to break down the amino acids: leucine, isoleucine, and valine. Build up of these amino acids and their byproducts will lead to symptoms such as poor feeding, vomiting, lethargy (a lack of energy), irritability, and a characteristic odour of maple syrup in the urine, cerumen (earwax), and sweat. I am a nursing major, and Anatomy 2458 is one of the key components required in order for me to take the upper level nursing courses. The information covered in this class are the basis of what will be thought in Upper level nursing courses, so it is imperative to have a good understanding of this course. The assignment that I will be completing once this class is contracted is to choose a specific disorder or disease that pertains to the systems that will be covered in class, and present the information in an essay, brochure or powerpoint . The symptoms, signs, diagnosis, and treatment of the disorder must be included in whatever presentation tool that I have chosen.…
With respect to the abovementioned, the therapist should consider disclosures, authorizations, and a written release of information to obtain Steven’s medical records from his PCP, to coordinate care. Especially since he got dizzy while driving and experienced the inability to breathe at the mall, helps the therapist understand if a possible medical condition exists or rules out the possibility that his symptoms transpired in part of a medical condition. Not to mention, the PCP could have prescribed Steven some medication in the interim, unbeknownst to the therapist. Thus, knowing whether Steven’s symptoms were attributable to any biological effects of a substance/medication is paramount.…
Encephalitis Lethargica (EL) and Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP) are both disorders that affect a certain bodily System. Bodily Disorders can upset homeostasis and cause problems with even the most normal functions that the body performs. EL and FOP are two such disorders that can wreak havoc on the body and severely inhibit a person's ability to function regularly. Encephalitis Lethargica and Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva are disorders of the Nervous System and Skeletal System, respectively. The earliest recorded cases of FOP present themselves in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.…
Various aspects can be considered when considering diversity. These aspects can be factors of the development of the human body itself. Some may be hereditary, inborn and some can be a result of exposure to unhealthy surrounding. A person grows, but there are cases where growing exceeds the normal rate and reaches to extreme compare to other people. This occurrence is called acromegaly, in which the secretion of growth hormone (GH) in the pituitary gland exceeds its normal production even after the growth plates in the body has closed already.…
BPH can affect the patient both physically and psychologically, and also it can affect how the spouse relates with the patient. Hence, education in necessary for both the patient and the spouse to avoid mental distress. Mr. A admits that the symptoms interferes with his daily activities and nocturia interrupts his nighttime sleeping. The nurse will then offer the patient etoposide (fluid that is colorless) in the form of a drip (also known as infusion), which is completed in the course of an hour. Next they will provide the patients with cisplatin, which is also in the form of a drip. Instead the duration of time is much longer. The nurses normally run drips within a pump. This provides the treatment over an arranged time.…

A subset of patients with hypogonadism have isolated GnRH deficiency and loss of the sense of smell (anosmia). This disorder is called Kallmann syndrome and is usually caused by a mutation in a gene that directs the formation of the olfactory (sense of smell) system and the formation of parts of the hypothalamus. People affected fail to go through puberty unless they are given sex hormone replacement therapy and in addition usually have no sense of smell (anosmia). Your husband may require hormonal work-up.…

Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is a disorder of the reproductive tract. According to the article that I chose, it is usually misdiagnosed and ineffectively treated. The complications of PID include chronic pelvic pain, ectopic pregnancy, infertility and can be prevented if patients are screened for sexually transmitted infections (STI). There are guidelines that have been developed by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) for the screening and treatment of PID. Many health care providers do not follow the recommendations, so many women and teens are not screened and treated correctly.…
It is interesting to think how someone who is diagnosed with sexual sadism achieves intimate pleasure from overpowering their partner. Nonetheless, I can see why the other partner is most likely to have a sexual masochism identity. In addition to having a masochism disorder, in one of my past readings, I have read a book about Adolf Hitler’s path to power and how it stated he enjoyed being beaten and stepped on by his female partners. Indeed, Hitler had a handful of psychological troubles, but I am curious if her had sexual masochism disorder also.…
