There are two types of plants, one with broad leaves, which mostly come from tropical areas with steady, non- fluctuating overhead sun all year round. Then there are plants with small leaves which are likely to be found in cooler drier biomes. This is because as daylight hours get shorter so their leaves get smaller to conserve energy.one can argue that plants with broader leaves will function better but evidence shows that plants with small leaves are likely to function just as well. Plant metabolism and circadian rhythms are another important aspect of a plants reproduction. One may think that a plant stays stagnant when darkness falls, but this is not true. There are metabolic processes that continue. The process of Calvin cycle, enables a plant to capture carbon which is stored and used as energy at night. Oxygen is also another important aspect and plants produce oxygen during the day due to photosynthesise reactions and use oxygen at night due to respiration. Plants are very intelligent in that they anticipate the coming of dawn and prepare for it on a cellular level. To conclude, darkness does play an important role in plant growth. An advantage of darkness is that a plant still grows even though sunlight isn’t present, and a disadvantage is that it alters the growth of a …show more content…
I will now explain individually about those things:
The first one is light and seed Germination:
This one talks about how the light affects seed germination. Light affects seed germination as sunlight can only travel a little bit into the soil. When you plant a seed you must make sure that the sunlight will be able to reach the see. Like they say in the article that most bean or seeds are leaved uncovered or very lightly covered with a fertilizer or soil.
The second one is Photosynthesis:
This one first starts off by giving the definition of photosynthesis. Then it explains what photosynthesis is about. Photosynthesis is the process by which the plants use the suns energy and convert it into a process to make food. They explain that chlorophyll contains oxygen and without the oxygen the plant will not be green that is why in winter the leaves lose their colour because the oxygen in the chlorophyll is lost.
The third one is
