In the words of Julie Craves, of the Coffee and Conservation blog, she states that “recycling is the enemy of the never-ending stream of garbage needed to feed waste to energy facilities” (Scheer and…
Johnson tries to make a claim, but fails to make it impactful by implementing too many details that do not sway the audience to either side. Her reasoning behind the many facts she provides show why or why not bottles should still be bought. Although the points addressed are informative, they do not influence the reader. Johnson’s credibility is lost from the use of biased sources for research, and trust for her is also lost as she doesn’t clearly state to which side of the issue she is on. Emotionally, however, she does a great job by making the audience feel bad for consuming water bottles; but also leaves the audience grateful for the life-saving water bottles.…
There are many websites about bottled water being bad. According to Christiana Z. Peppard Ph.D. , Water bottles are not sustainable. In one week people throw away about 35 million empty water bottles. If it takes 450 years to biodegrade, one water bottle, and there are 35,000,000 bottles thrown away in a week, just imagine how many years it will take for all of those water bottles to stack up to reach the moon. There are too many water bottles in landfills We should have filling…
Those empty soda cans and food cans are natural resources, and we all have to recycle them. I usually get annoyed by all those empty water bottles in the normal trash, which is not designed for recycling. While the recycling one is just about one minute far from the trash! Just before thanksgiving break, me and my friend were heading out of our chemistry lecture, and I saw about five water bottles that were on the top of the trash in the lecture hall. All students were just walking by it, and some of them even threw their empty bottles there.…
She continues using logical reasons in her arguments that say that there are essential minerals in tap water that should encourage people to drink tap water. Proceeding to use logic, she makes clear that tap water also save money. This would encourage any college student to choose tap water over bottled water, since college students need all the extra money wherever they can find it. Moreover, following the same format of the rest of her article, Johnson then meets the preceding claims with a final claim that bottled water is essentially convenient to people. With this all being said, a point about reusable water bottles is finally brought to the table and is said that using reusable water bottles is the ultimate…

Recycling in the United States has been a huge deal over the years. Like the passage states we the citizens of the US do have these green, blue, and black trash cans. Us average people dont always take into consideration the color of the trash can we just throw stuff in. However not everything we throw in is just trash. Most things for example food, such as apples, bananas, oranges, all these different fruits and vegetable help plants and other things grow.…

Recycling is the process of making new products out of already used materials. A lot of Americans love the idea and believe that the benefits of recycling out way negatives of recycling. However, other Americans hate the idea of recycling and think that the money and time could be used in other ways. It is important to understand the advantages and disadvantages of continuing the recycling process. Americans need to decide if recycling is their way out of the waste management problem in the U.S. because as of 2007 the U.S. is the number one trash producing country in the world.…
I. Executive Summary Right now there is close to 5 million metric tons of Plastic waste in the ocean, and Toronto alone is responsible for using 100 million plastic bottles a year. Most of these bottles just end up in landfills even though there are many plastic recycling centers around the world, especially in Canada. Plastics R’ Us is an Idea for a company that allows plastic waste to be shredded to dust. This dust could be used to make products ranging from book covers to supplies for construction.…
• Water bottles that are thrown in the landfill cause environmental pollution because those bottles require many years to decompose or…
Contrary to its perception before, people no longer see water bottles as a luxury or a privilege. Because of this, we, Americans, have become more wasteful with resources like plastic that could be used to manufacture more long-lasting products other than disposable, plastic water bottles. Historically, as mentioned before, water bottles, not only plastic ones, were seen as a luxury. The trend of hauling and drinking water from bottles has become progressively fashionable in modern years too.…
Due to consumers nonsensically spending money on something they could get for free at home, “there are 50 billion water bottles consumed every year, about 30 billion of them in the US” (Schriever). To produce these plastic water bottles “we use 17 million barrels of oil each year” (Schriever). This substantial amount of valuable product could alternatively be used to “keep a million cars fueled for a whole year” (Schriever). Additionally, plastic water bottles are made entirely out of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastics. PETs are recyclable, but not biodegradable and break into smaller but everlasting fragments over time.…
Everyone has to drink water in order to survive, it is a necessity in life because without it there wouldn't be life. One of the most popular ways of consuming water today is through plastic water bottles. Although they are easy to grab when walking out of the house and convenient, they cause a major problem for the environment because they pollute. Last year alone, the average American used 167 disposable water bottles and only recycled 38. With this ratio, we are wasting more than $1 billion worth of plastic by throwing out these water bottles.…
This converts to 22 to 24 dollars a year just on spending money for water bottles, double of what you would pay for buying a reusable bottle. This 22 to 24 dollars does not even account for the number of soda bottles, juice jugs, and other beverages consumed in a year. Furthermore, most all plastic bottles are not recycled, yet they are thrown away. “According to Brita: Americans throw away 35 billion plastic bottles a year,” (Hasselberger). Since we use 50 billion water bottles a year, that means only that 15 billion plastic bottles are recycled each year (Leithman).…
