There are also myths about postpartum depression. It can start before giving birth and not just after it, as well as it can start as late as 4 weeks or even a year after giving birth. Postpartum depression is not just a case of the baby blues which goes away on its own. Also, “There is a whole collection of other postpartum illnesses besides postpartum depression: postpartum anxiety, postpartum OCD, and rarely, but often enough to be recognized, postpartum psychosis.
