Emotional self-regulation is when your child will learn how to manage their emotions. It will eventually lead them to interacting with other children and adults. Behavioral self-regulation is when you can remember the rules while following them at the same time. This isn’t a skill that can be picked up fast. It takes repeating the skill several times to be able to pick us behavioral self-regulation. The last to develop, which is also the hardest, is cognitive self-regulation. It is when you start to plan and utilize proper things. This skill usually develops in 4 year olds. Regulation skills require being focused, being on task, ignoring distractions, planning actions and reflecting on someone’s opinion. The classroom is where many opportunities for your child will take place. It is a good place for them to practice their self-regulation
