Euthanasia comes from the Greek and means “good death.” To us euthanasia has come to mean “easy death” and assisting in painlessly taking the life of another individual to prevent unstoppable suffering (Munson 324). I believe this because now euthanasia is a very controversial topic. More states are making it legal with certain guidelines and criteria for patients to meet to go through with euthanasia. With the legalization of this in certain areas I think that shows that people are becoming more open and willing to accept the idea, especially the idea of terminally ill patients deciding to end their lives. In legalizing this, doctors have the ability to minimize the pain of a patient who is ready to die; they can allow the patient to exit the world on their own terms. They can focus on the results of their actions and they don’t simply have to focus on trying everything to save a patient who may not want to be saved anymore.
