For this paper, we will be looking an excerpt from a process recording; all identifying information has been changing to protect the client. We will then be analyzing the intervention used by the social worker.

Identifying Information Maria, 46-year-old, a Latino female who has been seen by the social worker from April’s Child, an agency that helps prevent child abuse, for the past two months. Maria self-referred herself because one of her friends had been with the agency and told Maria that she would benefit from it. Maria has three children Ariel who is eleven years old, Araceli who is seven years old and Antonio who is five years old. Maria also lives with the children’s father, Juan. Ariel does not listen to her and is very defiant and talks back. Maria feels that Ariel is very negative and fights with his siblings. The family has had issues with the past landlord, who called CPS on them. The report claimed that Maria and Juan abused their children. Maria states that the case had no merit and had been closed. Maria has also stated on many occasions that Juan is an aggressive alcoholic. Maria states that Juan has been unemployed for the past two months and goes got drinking on a daily basis.
