Set up: laying a paint table cloth on table in case of paint or water spillages and placing all activity materials and supplies on top of newspaper sheets.
5. “Plan how I am going to organize work spaces for the different stages of the activity” (Dinham, 2014, p. 354). During the independent colour wheel art activity the two children will be sitting opposite each other to increase interaction.
6. “Decide on group sizes and how they will be organized for the second activity” (Dinham, 2014, p. 354). During the second art activity the students will work together as a team to complete a super hero hand painting using primary, secondary and black/white colours.
Lesson Steps:
Introduction and establishing leaning context
1. Organise the two children to sit opposite each other so they have a friendly visual connection.
2. Begin by telling the students that they will be learning about different colours using paints. Those colours being the primary and secondary colours.
3. Explain what a colour wheel is and how it relates to the primary and secondary art concepts.
By introducing the lesson it will promote social interaction, it will enhance teacher/student comfortability and it will gain their attention and learning interest.
