Pygmy marmosets have a super-flexible neck and can turn their head backward to watch for predators. Although there are many different types of monkeys the pygmy marmoset is the most important.

Their communication patterns consists of chartering and high pitched voices. The noise is so high pitched human can’t hear them. “Certain squeaks...express danger or other urgent monkey messages” (Pygmy marmoset 2). Then make face to show feelings much like humans. They can express feelings such as: happiness, surprise, and fear. They show these by moving their: lips, eyelids, ears, and the hair around their face just like humans (pygmy marmoset 2). To show social bonds then groom one another. These mini monkeys are very picky about how their fur is and have to keep it perfect like some humans do with their hair (Pygmy marmoset 2). Pygmy marmosets have specific scents for their family territories to signal neighbors too leave them alone (Pygmy marmoset 2). A group is a family, and they communicate with each other. Infants babble, while adults give off a chemical, vocal and visual signals to point out foods and predators (Facts about the 1). They are very small animals and being small in the forest is very dangerous because they can be prey for: cats, eagle, hawks, and snakes. If people think the adults are small the babies are only the size of a human thumb (Pygmy marmoset 2). So the parents are very protective of their kids. A mother is pregnant with the babies for four and a half months and she gives birth every five to seven months. When she does have a babies they are almost always twins but in the zoo they have had up to four at a time. The father helps deliver the babies and carries them on his back for up to two weeks bringing them to their mother so they can nurse older kids help (Pygmy marmoset 2). When they get a bit older the young ones hide while the rest of the troops goes and finds food until they are strong enough to do it themselves usually when they are three month old. It takes about two years to grow up to a full adult. They can choose to leave the troop and start their own or stay and take care of the new babies (Pygmy marmoset 2).
