This writer has worked with many individuals in which have made significant progress, and this writer has felt that they were ready for termination, however, the client for whatever reason did not. This writer has learned the importance of when this happens to explore and identify what is preventing the client from being ready and working with them to overcome this. An example of this might be a client not wanting therapy to end because it is the one constant support in their life. Helping a client connect to a natural support of some sort is necessary in this situation so that the client can transition out of therapy. This writer is aware though, that the situation is not always as black and white as this, and that is where she finds the challenge arise. However, this writer understands that through reevaluating and knowing her client, she will be able to successfully work to identify what the client needs in order for termination to occur. This writer has identified that she will do her practicum at a private practice that she knows. This writer has been offered in the past to help this counselor with running groups. This writer feels that connecting with this counselor about moving forward with assisting in groups will help to prepare better for her future practicum experience. This writer feels that through doing this, she would get more experience in addition to her current position to practice the skills of empathy, probing, challenging, as well as many others and to get more comfortable in utilizing these skills hands
