As a dual Nursing and Business student at ACU, the idea of learning marketing didn’t seem to connect with my goals as working as a full-time nurse, nor did it appeal to me in my everyday life. It was later that I learned that marketing had a very psychological basis that could be explored and would prove useful in my future endeavours, in and out of the workplace. The subject has also broadened my knowledge as to how I think, as I learnt processes that were done in my head that I hadn’t noticed before. This paper will discuss the connections that were made in the duration of the unit to further learning and applications to future employment and way of life.

As a classroom of consumers, the unit has provided insight in our futures and has given us the knowledge to continue our path to future employment. The lessons have been broad on the topic of Marketing and can go on a tangent in some cases, but this is rare. I feel lucky to be able to participate in this class and learned what I have. Learning the behaviour of consumers has also made me aware of my own behaviour and thought processes undertaken in my own mind when I purchase products. I have also learnt the impact of marketing on places such as social media networks and how advertising has changed from what I once knew. The marketplace has become so influential and large that it will only continue to evolve its marketing habits in years to come. The digitisation of marketing has become a cornerstone of success because it enables two-way conversation and demands it too. It also allows for a company to be in flow with the changing contexts of today’s current events. (Gordon, 2013) This has made me aware of the extent of marketing and how much companies know about myself as a consumer through my search history and online video watching habits, as to cater their advertisements to consumers. As I approach the unit in the coming weeks, I am confident that through the continuation of this course that I will learn so much more. The knowledge that I have already obtained has already come into effect in my everyday life and will continue doing so in years to come.
