This is more than likely because of the headlines made by fundamentalist organizations such as the Westboro Baptist Church. Despite the negative headlines religion counties to provide countless contributions to the medical field,currently one out of every six patients are treated in a Catholic Hospital (Catholic Health Care In The United States), yet that statistic does not account for all the other religious hospitals of other faiths or sects of Christianity. These hospitals provide many services to their community, as well as have saved countless lives. Even more so it is often forgotten that in scripture there are many class to action, take for example, Luke 10:25-37, Commonly known as the parable of the good samaritan, this scripture calls for people to act and help people whenever possible. The scripture reminds followers that they can always do something and to act when no one else is watching. This causes many Christians to attempt to aid their community however possible. Firstly the religious hospitals will remain open and members of the Church will still continue to care for people. Regardless of the current situation with the church people will always preach scripture such as the gospel of the good samaritan, causing for religious people everywhere to go out and aid their community. However Dramatic change is on the way, minority religions are seeing a rise in membership, 1.2% increase in fact, as compared to the 7.8% decrease in christian faith ("America’s Changing Religious Landscape." Fig.2). This will cause for the values of those faiths to become more recognised by people and grievously there will be extremists that rise and will place their religion in the media for their extreme views. However there are many great aspects to the rising religions in the United States, namely Islam. Islam means peace, and historically it was seen that followers of the faith have the ability to launch some of the best medical care of their time. As more people begin to follow Islam in the U.S. there will be an unmeasurable amount of aid to the healthcare system brought by Muslims. Presumably as the Muslim population grows there will be not only more hospitals founded but also the desire to follow in the footsteps of their ancestors and achieve great things in the medical
