Canada and Britain are allies that have had a strong relationship throughout hundreds of years. “Canada and the United Kingdom continue to have a profound, positive influence on each other. The two countries share a sovereign, and both have among the oldest continuous traditions of parliamentary democracy” (Government of Canada, 1). Canada was and continues to be influenced by the English. We as Canadians adapted from the european culture more so in the past then we do today, however if it wasn't for us being apart of the British colonies we would probably not be the Canada we know and love today. Canada has been shaped by Britain’s legal system, political system, social norms and more, this is why Virginia had such a big influence of social change in Canada. Woolf started a movement that many people did not agree with back in the twentieth century. Woolf decided to speak out against what she thought was right even if the majority of the population thought it was wrong, and this is why it began a revolution. This revolution made Canada the great country it is today, without Virginia and The Bloomsbury Group Canada would not have gay marriage, equality rights, women's rights and more. What Virginia did in the twentieth century can relate very well with what was a recent even that happened in the twenty first century, which was the legalization of gay marriage rights in many of the states in America. Although this movement should have happened when Canada legalized gay marriage, without Woolf this might not have taken place in the United States at all.
