Roaring twenties
What events impacted the roaring twenties? The roaring twenties also known as the jazz are post world war 1 and many other names. The 1920s was an exciting historical era that was filled with music art parties an a economic boom which influenced many writers and artist.
The war had just ended everyone was happy people just wanted to celebrate have fun party. Women had just gotten the right to vote they felt more power they felt somewhat equal to men. Men had just come back from war they wanted the party not just work. One group who had a lot of impact was called the algonquin round table also known as “The vicious circle” they were a group of people from new york who had high standards they were Journalist, editors actors press agents. Powerful people who wrote in the newspaper wrote best selling books and made hit plays. They had lunch everyday at the Algonquin hotel in New York. There were twenty four members. These members all got famous around nineteen twentyfive when other people found it entertaining seeing them and watching them have their lunch. These people criticized everything they knew what was in and not they made what was in and not they were rich and powerful they had old money not new so society liked them and society listened what they had to write about and what they had to show. It was the first important movement for african americans. This movement expressed views never seen by anyone but African Americans through their writing people could now see what they go through. For instance I, too, sing America by Langston Hughes “ I too sing America They send me to eat in the kitchen when company comes, I laugh, And eat well, And grow strong.” Americans now see that it does hurt when people are ashamed of you it hurts the are now seeing something they had not. This type of literature influenced other African Americans too also write their experiences through literature. During the harlem renaissance the jazz age was born were people of all color would come together and dance to this music. It became very popular with the young people. The most important artist from this time period was Louis Armstrong he played the trumpet and cornet and people loved to see him play and sing people still love his music to this day. The young people of society created dances and it became a normal way to entertain themselves by going dancing they also created new dance moves called the shimmy women and men jumping and throwing their hands up it was called the toddle another form of dance would be the charleston which is heel kicks and bending carrying boy and girl together men picking the
