With luck the two officers were near the suspect just a few blocks away from the scene and close to the suspect and hint they were not dispatched. They approached a Jamaican male whom the officers say “was already inducing suspicious behavior” as the two officers drove towards him. Officer Gonzales proceeds with his professional tactics and asks the male to put his hands up but the suspect immediately flees. Officer Gonzales enter his car with Officer Christie and they pursuit the suspect. The officers state that the suspect had fired shots and later on during the chase they than cornered him. Officer Gonzales steps out of his car and shouts for the suspect to immediately put his hands in the air “let me see your hands” as they try to refrain him from firing the weapon. Officer Gonzales tells me it was his second day on the squad and real life is different from the police academy because you’re putting your life and the life of others in potential harm. The Officers main focus relied on not trying to hurt the suspect and for the suspect to not destroy or mislead any evidence; they also certainly did not want the suspect to commit a crime within himself.
