SLO 1 Development I have learned the meaning of challenging behavior, and it is different reactions and actions a person to express and communicate their needs, and wants. Challenging behaviors can be verbal and physical.
SLO 2 Research Based on course readings and discussion, I have learned a new assessment strategy, the BRAULT Behaviors Checklist. Now, I am using this strategy to analyze, reflect, understand, learn different types of behaviors, try something new to prevent the behaviors.
SLO 3 Diversity I believe that everyone has culture, and they also have different beliefs and values. Therefore, educator’s beliefs and values have a great impact on the ways of working with children from diverse families

I believe that this self-assessment will help me to analyze, reflect, understand, learn different types of behaviors, try new strategies to prevent the challenging behaviors. I also have learned varieties of guidance strategies and techniques to prevent challenging behaviors. In addition, I also know how to create the intervention plan to support children who have challenging behaviors.
This course has a great impact on my thoughts because I have learned that challenging behaviors is the way that children express their needs, and wants. In addition, I knew the environment, curriculum, relationships, strategies, and the individual child has a great impact on children’s behaviors. This class also changed my thoughts because I don’t know that educators can prevent challenging behaviors when they make changes in the physical space, routines and transition, and their teaching strategies.
Before taking this class, I think that challenging behavior is different reactions and actions that may have behaviors which challenge, and those reactions are socially unacceptable behavior because it challenges and become harmful to other people. However, while taking this class I usually think critically about the subject ‘behavior challenges’ because I understand that children tend to have challenging behavior when their needs unmet.
