Self-serving bias occurs when you blame your failures on outside forces and you take the credit when you are successful. When you succeed in something, you want to believe it was your personal characteristics that made you accomplish it because that helps boost your self-esteem. There has been many instances of self-serving bias in softball involving myself and my teammates. When I get a ball hit to me and I miss it, there has been times where I will say it was a bad hop or the dirt wasn’t smooth enough and it hit a rock. Making these excuses is just to try and make myself feel better about missing the ball but in reality, I probably just didn’t follow the ball into my glove.…
Most news networks these days use biased reports to entertain a certain audience. Often, different news stations will show the same reports but with a different bias “twist”. For example, a report on the solider Bowe Burgdahl was showed by CNN and Fox new. Bowe Burgdahl is a solider that left his post and got captured by Taliban soldiers. When he was captured, 6 soldiers were killed, and the united states had to trade 5 Taliban leaders to the Taliban to get Burgdahl back.…
This would allow Linda to change her attributions and take credit for her successes, and stop blaming herself for failures that everyone makes. Generally, these are typical targets of depression therapy. Thus, using a self-serving bias could prevent a negative attribution from feeding Linda’s depression. In addition, self-handicapping is a method that individuals use to protect themselves from their failure. By finding or creating impediments to prevent themselves from doing well, they externalize the source of their failure, if they do well it is in spite of optimal conditions (Jones and Berglas…

Well, I am not sure what the "official" definition of how bias essays compared to persuasive essays but I have my own definition that I think holds to be quite true overall. Bias writing is where the writer solely focuses upon the narrative that they desire but omit to mention any potential downsides to whatever their viewpoint. A persuasive essay, while written from a certain perspective on an issue or topic, will address such potential causes of concerns about the topic. While the differences may seem small but in actuality, they are quite different since one fully ignores the potential faults in order to push an idea while the other addresses them as valid and gives a response to such concerns.…

Interviewer bias is something that occurs frequently in research cases and can directly affect the results that are generated from the participant’s responses. In an online article titled, “10 Types of Interviewer Bias to Avoid” it states, “The ‘similar to me’ error involves a perception that people who share traits with you or that you perceive to be similar to you in some way are “like” you – and would therefore be a good fit for the job.” (White, 2015). This is what I think occurred in this particular case study regarding interviewer bias. After some time the researcher found out that the interviewers were classified as a socialist and a prohibitionist, which directly corresponded to the types of answers they provided based on the interview…
Bachman, O’Malley, Freedman-Doan, Trzesniewski, and Donnellan (2011) define global self-esteem as “an individual’s overall evaluation of self,” (p. 445). The origins of self-esteem have been debated. One perspective is that self-esteem stems from the theory of Reflected Appraisal, also known as “The Looking Glass Self,” as defined by Charles Cooley (Felson and Reed, 1986). The theory of Reflected Appraisal posits that an individual’s perception of themselves is based on how he or she believes others view him or her (Bachman et al., 2011). In other words, a person’s self-esteem is dependent upon the way in which he or she perceives others view him or her.…
