Many people did not agree with not having Muhammad to lead their religion, because he was the last person that was a messenger from god they thought no one could not replace him. After the death of Abu Bakr they had to pick another prophet which started the Muslim Civil war. The Muslim Civil was a huge disagreement between the Shi'ite faction and the Sunni faction over who should heir after Muhammed. Many thought that Ali should be the next heir to his success, so they killed the Uthman the person next in line so that Ali could receive the heir. The Shi'ite was the supporters of Ali, and the others was classified as the Sunnis that believed that the next caliph should be in Muhammad’s family. The Shi'ite faction and the Sunni faction split because of the many disagreements that they had over time.
