Teachers have added time to teach each class period, making each period much more productive than that of additional periods that are shorter. Teachers are now able to prepare lessons with greater depth, or get supplementary lessons done each day. They also have extra time to prepare these lessons, with the extra day being potentially used to prepare more thoroughly thought-out lessons that can more effectively teach students. Students will be required to learn at a much faster pace, and that these issues will negatively affect both students and teachers. However, there are solid reasons that say this won't be the case. There may be less days of school, but with additional time per day, teachers can be more productive each day than they could be with the longer week that has shorter classes. As it can take time to set up, begin, and conclude a class, less time is lost in fewer, longer periods. With the greater time-efficiency, both students and teachers have more time to accomplish what they need to. Plus, the extra day can be used to get any work done that didn't during the school week. In conclusion, the shorter school week will benefit the education of students, the teaching opportunities for teachers, and save money for the districts. Students will be able to pursue new opportunities in and out of school. Teachers will be able to prepare further for lessons, and have more time each class to teach students that now attend more consistently.
