This is most affecting high school students, athletes especially. They aren’t getting the calories needed with the lunches that are being provided for them. Wallace County High School made a video that went viral about how these new lunches aren’t helping everyone. Students feel so strongly about a matter and decided to tell the world about it. The school’s lunch guidelines were developed 15 years ago, according to Bonnie Taub who wrote for US News. It hasn’t been an extended time for them to feel the need to change the entire system. An obvious issue that no one addresses, is that children are eating things they don’t like. Children in large are not eating these foods and not getting proper nutrition. Many schools are saying that parents should have parents should give children replacements for sugar. However, they are right in the sense of it being a matter for a parent and not a school’s.
