The pit bull also has their place among the ranks of this nation 's heroes (Should Pit Bulls Be Banned). One of the most decorated war dog of all time was a pit bull. His name was stubby and he did his service during World War I. The pit bull was once courageous enough to save a human life on a World War I battlefield (Breed History). There are also modern day heroes that are pit bulls. Some pit bulls are therapy dogs and help comfort people who are sick and grieving. Police also use the pit bull as a drug sniffing dog. When socialized properly pit bulls are people-orientated (Welcome to Pitbulls.org). Although many believe that they do a pit bull does not have locking jaws, they have the same anatomical features as any other dog breed. The same is also true for the power of their bite and their brains swelling it is a myth and is not true (Should Pit Bulls Be Banned). If pit bulls were as dangerous as people put them out to be there would be hundreds, maybe even thousands of fatal accidents involving pit bulls each year but there is only an average of three per year. People should not be able to punish an entire breed of dog while allowing the irresponsible owner to be let off the hook. Even a mistreated pit bull can be changed and rehabilitated into a loving family
