The idea behind his political theory stems from the individuality and non-conformity that must occur in the society. Mill argues that people should encourage others to act differently and strive for uniqueness (Mill 76). This creates less mediocrity and more social progress. He also argues that apart of individuality is acting however you want and excreting freedom. The government should only be able to intervene an infringe on your rights if your are threat to others or yourself (Mill 85). However, Marx and Freud would disagree with Mill’s individualists approach, arguing the well being of the group is more important than the well-being of the individual. For Marx, the majority and minority issue would not be an issue because he describes a state of equality however he emphasizes the group’s well being over individual rights. For each of theorists, the view of humans was effected by the experiences in their life. Both Freud, and Kosinski view human nature in a pessimistic light. Also, Marx is another theorist who does not think highly of human nature. As the human nature view develop, the way people should be governed is argued. The solution to face economic inequality for Marx was to generate revolution to create a communistic society. Freud and Kosinski would argue that a revolution would only bring out the true self, a behavior that is motived by selfish interest and barbaric tendencies. However, Mill, a individualistic political theorist encourages a individual philosophy that promotes the well being of the group over the individual. The philosophy allows for a just society in which everyone is encourage to not conform and pursue originality. The non-conformity prevents a tyranny of majority in the government, allowing for certain equality almost the citizens. The usage of violence however is not a tactic used to create a just society but a method used to create a honest ruling class. Violence shouldn’t be used to create a just society but will encourage the rulers to remain fair and uncorrupted at the risk of a violent rebellion.
