I found this book incredibly informative as it went into great depth on subjects that I hadn’t even though about, particularly some of the myths around sign language. While focusing my question I found a lot of the information in the book was quite similar to the information I had gathered from the interview; this gave me more reason to take the information presented in the interview as true and use it as valid information. The book also gave plenty of references as to where they had gathered the information presented, and gave even more reason to believe that the information was accurate, along with the fact that it seemed to be presented in the format of a report and seemed to rely on facts, rather than speculate about …show more content…
Sign language has changed dramatically over time, but the origin of where it began is unknown, as the best information that I have been able to gather said that it originally evolved from simple gestures of basic needs such as food and water, and since the origin of where man came from is unknown, I am unable to find the origin of sign language. If I were to go by the history books, the first official sign language was developed approximately in the 1600’s. The exact year in unknown as each source of information I gathered gave a different year; I believe this is caused by the speculation of various people, since the record gathered around that time aren’t the most accurate. Sign language has grown to a beautiful and complex form of communication, and it has grown like this because the world has evolved from wanting the basics of survival to wanting to thrive, and so it had to evolve with time as human beings evolved themselves, and new things were created and developed, particularly in recent years with the sudden advance of technology. It has also had to expand the base of its knowledge as people are becoming more willing to treat the hearing impaired as equals, and not just the disabled, giving them the chances that they need to be able to build themselves a great life with good jobs, a family and plenty of
