The WRJ (Women of Reform Judaism) passed a resolution against the criminalization of homosexuality. In 1996 a resolution was passed that the CCAR supports same-sex couple’s rights to a civil-marriage. Reform Judaism opposes the government’s attempts to ban same-sex marriage.
Orthodox Jews usually consider themselves republicans and are more conservative on social issues. They are also more committed, religiously, and the median age of adults a lot younger than other American Jews. Orthodox Jews are known to have bigger families and more married couples. About 10 percent of adult American Jews are 10% out of 5.3 million.
Orthodox Judaism’s views on homosexuality are very different from Reform Judaism. Orthodox Jews believe that the act of homosexuality is considered an abomination. Same-sex relations are considered such a huge sin that they are punishable by death in the Jewish court system. The reason Orthodox Judaism are so against homosexuality is because they believe that same sex relationships violate man’s purpose on earth. Reform Judaism is supportive of same-sex marriage and believe they should not be discriminated against. They embrace and accept homosexuality. Orthodox Judaism is the opposite in their opinion of same-sex relations. Orthodox Jewish people believe that homosexuality is a great sin comparable to bestiality.
