In order to compensate a nurse is put in place, and act as a substitute for lacking medical support. Nurses are able to help them at their personal homes instead of having to travel a far distance to get to a hospital. Nurses, who work in rural and remote communities must be able to work in any area of the hospital, work autonomously, efficiently and adjust quickly to change. This shows that nurses are more than capable of handling variety of tasks and or problems. Nurses contribute the most to build a community, sharing knowledge in ways to connect with the residents and better develop practices.

By belonging in the community the elderly may feel safe within the environment and not feel secluded. This can also improve the elderly man’s social skills that will enable him to communicate with others.
Having this sense of skill show that the elderly may be capable within the community. During the time they are in the community they are able to show their independence as they please. Associating with nurses will help boost their confidence by practicing physical, emotional and spiritual daily activities. Registered nurses that practice and promote the health of an individual can better the life of the elderly man. By promoting objectives the elderly may be able to quickly learn and process basic health care. “Nurses often provide training, consultation, and support to these individuals, who then assume responsibility for contact with marginalized individuals and groups in their community” (Kozier, Erb, Berman, Snyder, Buck, Yiu & Stamler, 2014, p. 272).
