Kevin Fedarko sends a message to his readers that the Grand Canyon is beautiful and it should be preserved. Humans should not continue to create more structures in the canyon because it takes away from the natural beauty, but Fedarko also makes it clear that dams already built by humans have beauty in them too. Mesa Verde is located in Southwestern Colorado which is one of the four states that is included in the Colorado Plateau. In the Mesa Verde region in the South Western corner of Colorado, existed a group of people known as the Anasazi, or Puebloans. Mesa Verde was occupied by farmers who lived in cliff dwellings.
