Choosing a Career Path Most teenagers during their high school life are often asked quite a few times what they are going to do after high school. A lot of high school kids answer with college, straight to the workforce, or “I’m not sure what I’m going to do”. Most of them don’t think about the careers that they want to go into, and what requirements are needed to pursue the job. When I was young and throughout high school I often changed my mind about what I wanted to once I graduated. I didn’t really give many of them much thought but once senior year came along I actually started to think about it and I want to be a cosmetologist. A cosmetologist is more commonly referred to as a beauty professional. Beauty professionals can earn their cosmetology license for hair care and styling, skin care, nail technician and make up. The first big thing that really made me decide to become a beauty professional is the fact that when I was super young, I had really long, soft blonde hair. It was super thin and tangled really easily. I loved playing with it and having other people play with my hair. I would spend hours braiding and unbraiding my hair, just simply because I loved it. The second biggest reason that I decided I wanted to become a beauty professional is because when I was around 8, my grandmother passed away with breast cancer. I watched her go through chemo and watched her hair fall out. She cried because she loved her hair so much. Slightly after her death I decided to cut all my hair off and donate it for a good cause. The fact that people can make other people happy by simply donating hair made me realize, someone has to take care of others hair so it stays
