Structuralism is an approach that focuses on the expectation that everything that happens in an event has some form of an authority figure or foundation. The structuralist approach is analyse by focusing on certain components and structures to see if they function properly and provide a specific effect. This specific way of communication is a straight forward one-way communication were only the sender is talking , and the recipient just listens and does not give any feedback back to the sender. This process is linear and sequential and the message is clear.
Why do humans communicate? The best way to explain this is via Maslow’s hierarchy of needs which has an in depth understanding of basic need and levels of needs, which contribute to our daily lives, and help us, understand why we communicate with one another.
Abraham Maslow was a social psychologist who focused on the entirety of human psychological needs rather than on individual psychological problems. Maslow is best known for his theory, the Hierarchy of Needs. Human do a lot of strange things to achieve this need, such as hobbies which they can show off their talent or skill, they sometimes even use their profession to get some sort of recognition or praise from other individuals. This action provides a sensation of pride, and adds to some value in their life, this also makes them feel like there contributing to a conversation, increasing their self-worth (Steinberg 2007).
