As previously stated, stem cells are unique because they can develop into different cell types in the body. While the stem cell is dividing, the new cells that are being created can turn into specialized cells, such as; brain cells, to help cure Alzheimer’s disease. What is so interesting about stem cells is that they are unspecialized cells that can replicate on their own through cell division. During certain scientific experiments, stem cells can be manipulated to become a specific specialized cell in the brain. For example, according to Stemcells.gov, “ A stem cell that is manipulated for the brain, can replace dead brain cells, ultimately recreating lost brain matter” (Stem Cell Summary, n.d.).
