Stereotypes are created in media based on what the media portrays towards the audience. Stereotypes are usually taken into a negative notion because it causes people to make assumptions on a group of people based on one or a few people’s actions. This causes people to mislead others and causes them to be close-minded about the group of people. Stereotypes are directed towards many different groups of people such as gender, cultures and race. This movie was initially released in 1998, a few years before the popular Islamic attacks started. This shows how the media was conveying the negative representation of Muslims even before any major actions have been taken place. The plot of this movie displays New York City being attacked by Arab/Muslim terrorist while the police in America are trying to stop these attacks to protect their people. This movie also shows many images of the Muslim terrorist performing religious actions, which could suggest that the religion itself is aggressive and violent.
