This study was done using the chart system. The subjects were macaque monkeys. These particular monkeys are favored by researchers because they share the hierarchical social structures as humans and they also can become subjected to coronary-artery disease. An anthropologist, Jay Kaplan (Wake Forest University) studied low and high male macaques in captivity. When new macaques were introduce to the group the hierarchy was changed and the old macaques were forced to fight for their position. I think this article fits into the overall field of psychology because it is an issue that all humans go through. It can be studied in various ways and it can also be treated. There have been many studies done on stress with various groups and the results are just about the same all over the world. Stress fits into psychology because it is something that can be studied about. It is something humans have in common with each other as well as some animals. This makes it an easier topic to study as well. The field of psychology gives a complete understand of the mind and body and how they come together, with respects to certain areas.
