Also, a interference of Oberon had an effect on their love. Demetrius consistently told Helena that he did not love nor want her. .In Act 2 scene 1 Demetrius said to Helena, “I love thee not, therefore pursue me not.”{Line 173} He also said, “I will not stay thy questions. Let me go. Or if thou follow me, do not believe but I shall do thee mischief in the wood.”{Lines 220-222}.Demetrius did not like the fact that Helena loved him and kept trying to pursue him when he loved Hermia. He was so angry at the fact that Helena continued to follow him that he would do things to hurt her if she continued to follow her. In addition, Oberon wanted to help Helena out by casting a spell on Demetrius.After the spell was casted on Demetrius he said to Lysander in act 3 scene 2, “My heart to her but as guest-wise sojourned, And now to Helena is it home returned, there to remain.”{Lines 173-175}.
