1. a. My data demonstrated the law of conservation of mass in part 5 of the experiment, dissolving sugar in water. The law of conservation mass states that matter cannot be created or destroyed by can enter or leave the system. The system’s change in mass was 0.00 grams, resulting in support of this statement.…
There may have been errors in the lab that may have affected the results of the lab. There may have been mistakes: a person may have not measured the substances correctly while retrieving the liquids in the graduated cylinder, or not have been watching the conductivity probe while the group was measuring the electrolyte solution. Along with these, there is also the issue of timing the testing incorrectly. Adding onto this, there may have been a slight spill where the accurate amount of the substance being used was not completely added into the water for testing.…
A. Heating Magnesium: This station consisted of magnesium, a slim, flexible, silver metal and a Bunsen burner. We used crucible tongs to hold the magnesium over the Bunsen burner until it began to ignite. When it first ignited, sparks were seen and the flame emitted a bright, white light. The flame spread across the magnesium and eventually turned it into a white, ashy substance.…
If zombies did happen to come to St.Labre, first I would go and find a knife or something to protect myself with while I try and get to a safe and secure spot with food, water, and shelter then i would grab all my friends that weren’t zombies and I would go over to the spot that would keep us safe and fed. If zombies were to attack St. Labre while we were in school this is what i would in a few short sentences but continue on to read and i will tell you more. My basic needs of surviving a zombie attack would be having shelter, protection or as in a defensive shelter to protect me and whoever else is with me away from the zombies, also food, and water. So when the zombies come to eat everyone’s brains i’ll be safe and sound in my hide out…
It’s also known as “titan” and is the name of a protein. The book went over every possible aspect that the periodic table could be used for. The book discusses the ancient uses of antimony, and how they can be used as laxatives. I also learned that there was gaps in the periodic table at one point, and this is because some of the elements were unstable and could not be found in nature. They had to be artificially created in a…
Acid, below-normal pH, causes many problems in our world today—from drinks to teeth, from pollution of industry to natural disasters. Acid is a chemical substance that can subdue alkalis, can dissolve specific metals and can turn them into salt, such as calcium, turns red on blue litmus paper, is corrosive or sour-tasting when it comes to liquid, generates pain in wounds, and turns colorless when placed in phenolphthalein which is used as a basic to acid indicator ("Definition of acid in English:"). Alkalis is any kind of substance that can produce OH ions, hydroxide ions, in water, which can also be known as 'basic', or 'basicity' ("GCSE CHEMISTRY - What is an Alkali? - What is a Base? - GCSE SCIENCE."). Litmus is a weakly acidic, organic…
Methionine is the body's primary source of sulfur. The body uses Sulfur to stimulate hair follicles and to promote healthy hair, skin, and nail growth. Sulfur increases the production of lecithin in the liver, which reduces cholesterol and liver fat, protects the kidneys, reduces bladder irritation by regulating the formation of ammonia in the urine and helps the body to excrete heavy metals. Inositol is closely associated with choline. It plays a major role in preventing the collection of fats in the liver, as well as promoting healthy hair growth.…
Amethyst- A treasurable stone consisting of a violet or purple variety of quartz. These gems were once believed to have magical qualities, and were supposed to contain the power to prevent or cure drunkenness to its wearer. This was perhaps believed to avoid drunkenness due to its wine-like color. People would wear rings made out of amethyst before or during drinking.…
Toxicologists usually make between $50,000 - $150,000. Their salary depends on how much education they received. A bachelor's degree will be at the lower end of the salary spectrum. A master's degree will be in the middle of the salary spectrum. A doctorate's degree will have the highest salary.…
1. In our notes, we reviewed the Major mineral: Sodium. We know from news and health professionals, our intake of sodium is well over recommendations for our bodies need. List three specific changes you could make to your diet to decrease your sodium intake. • Eat more fresh fruit and vegetables since they are low in sodium.…
The second most abundant element in the Earth’s crust other than oxygen is silicon which if by mass is around 25.7g or 23%. However in nature, silicon never exist as a free or pure element but instead it mostly combines with the most abundant element in the Earth’s crust, oxygen, hence producing silica (SiO₂) or silicate minerals. The most prominent charge of Si in the crust is +4 rather than +2 which involve a silicon atom to bond in a tetrahedral manner with 4 other oxygen atoms giving rise to the silica tetrahedron structure that has a charge of -4. The major source for silicon is actually the magma which is produced by the partial melting of the upper mantle and crust that produces various types of magmas and the most predominant on Earth is silicate magma compare to the extremely rare carbonatite magma.…
Sula, a novel written by Nobel Prize-winning author, Toni Morrison, encompasses a theme of binary opposites including the complex idea of stasis and change, to simpler oppositions such as male and female. In the first chapter of Part II of Sula (1937, pages 89-11), Morrison challenges these oppositions with the immediate sense of change Sula and Nel both encounter. After years of separation, Morrison accurately creates a homecoming that illustrates the themes effectively. Nel, still the modest and independent woman, sees Sula for the first time in ten years and automatically Nel feels at peace. This interaction furthers the stasis and change theme proving that things may have changed, but deep down they are still the same girls they knew ten…
Argon is the element i picked for the project. Argon is a chemical element with symbol Ar and atomic number 18. It is in group 18 of the periodic table and is a noble gas. Argon is the most abundant gas in the earth's atmosphere. It makes up 1.28% of the atmosphere.…
Sulfur has been known since ancient times. The name comes from the Sankrit word " sulvere" meaning "sulphur". Around 1777 a scientist named Antoine Lavoiser convinced the scientific community that sulfur was a element. It is a "tasteless, odorless, brittle solid that is pale yellow in color, a poor conductor of electricity, and insoluble in water". Sulfur is the tenth most abundant element in the universe.…
Ammonia is a compound composed of nitrogen and hydrogen, having the formula NH3. The ammonia molecule is formed by sp3 orbitals as it has a tetrahedral geometry and a trigonal pyramidal shape. Ammonia has an experimentally determined bond angle of 106.7°, and an a bond length of 101.7 pm. The nitrogen atom in the molecule has a lone electron pair, which gives the molecule a dipole moment and polarity. Ammonia’s lone electron pair makes NH3 a base, a proton acceptor, and gives it the ability to readily form bonds.…
