The main idea of this sentence is reflected upon Flavio using water to cook the rice, and for his siblings to wash their hands and feet. As the journal entry transitions to its turning point, the author showed his willingness to help Flavio and his family after having seen their horrendous housing conditions back in Catacumba. The author realized how much help Flavio and his family needed after having observed Catacumba’s conditions, and compared it to the various factors of the lifestyle the author currently lives in.
