Why is something as beautiful as a black cat considered to bring bad luck? I remember this time, when I saw a band of children throwing stones at a cat, which was pitch black on the streets because of the belief that their parents have passed on to them, that black cats bring bad luck. Superstitions are irrational and I think a change must be made.
The main reason why I am choosing this topic is because it is something that isn't spoken about on an everyday basis, especially in my country. Remember the Black Death that haunted every life in Europe? During this era, people assumed that it was punishment sent by God because they did not understand the pathology of this disease. They whipped themselves on the streets thinking God would forgive them. But, this increased the disease and caused death because their flesh was completely exposed to this disease. This is an example of a superstition that once affected the entire region of Europe.
There are still some that are rather humorous, muddling or dangerous. I feel like superstitions make the people of this world very narrow-minded. Although we know about how this world physically works, some people still wish to believe in superstitions.
